For Patients and Families
Patient care is at the heart of LSU Health Sciences Center at Shreveport's Psychiatry Department. In this section of our website, our goal is to help you find the most appropriate setting and type of care for you, a relative, or a friend. If you are beginning your search for information here, you can review our clinical services by type of service, you can learn more about a particular psychiatrist or researcher in our faculty directory; you can find faculty specialties and research interests; and learn about our mental health research volunteer opportunities.

Outpatient clinical psychiatric services are offered in both private and educational environments at several locations. Our main clinic is in the Ambulatory Care Bldg, 2nd floor (contact info below). Faculty physicians are available to see private patients in a confidential setting, and patients are also seen, by physician referral, in our teaching clinic staffed with medical students, residents and attending psychiatrists. Group therapy is also available for patients who may benefit from this type of treatment. Several of our psychiatric physicians also deliver patient care through the local community mental health clinics. If you are interested in an appointment, please call Faculty Clinic at 318-813-2450, or send a patient referral to the general clinic by fax at 318-813-2446.
