I’m going to tell you how to use detox drinks for drug tests properly. There is a lot of bad information out there, and a lot of poor detoxes drink recommendations. All that stops here, and by the end of this guide, you’ll be fully clued up on how to use a detox drink.
I’m going to do it in just 10 minutes as well. By the end of it, you’ll know how a detox drink works, how best to use one, how to make sure it has worked, and you will have learned all the tips and tricks you need to get clean for a drug test.
I’ll tell you what the best detox drinks for THC are, whether home-made detox drinks work at all, and I’ll also tell you what the top four brands of detox drink are, based on my own home drug testing and the evidence of people I know who have passed drug tests using these high-quality drinks.
How A Cleansing Works
When you smoke a joint the THC gets converted into metabolites, waste cell-sized objects that pass round your bloodstream, and then get pushed out of the body through your liver, kidneys, and bowels.
Mostly, drug metabolites exit the body through urine. However, THC is slightly different because of the majority of those metabolites exit through the bowels. That’s why eating a high fiber diet in the days leading up to a drug test is good if you are a weed smoker, because fiber creates bile, which draws out weed metabolites.
On the day of your test, you drink the cleansing drink. But it’s not doing what you probably think. It’s not flushing the toxins out of your body completely, because nothing can get into your organs and bloodstream and do that, especially not in one hour, not even if you are on dialysis.
A detox drink works by doing the following:
- Uses a concentrated liquid to flush out your body
- The liquid in your stomach is now free of drug metabolites
- Your liver and kidneys are not currently processing metabolites in your body
- A flood of nutrients and minerals is pass through as waste
- These waste nutrients and minerals appear in your urine keeping it natural-looking
So as you can see, the cleansing drink is actually a masking agent. It just makes sure that for a few hours no drug metabolites are getting processed through your liver and kidneys, and during that time a sample given will appear natural because your urine still contains the things it should.
But after a few hours, as few as three hours, if you have lots of toxins in your body, the toxins that are in your body will start to appear in your urine again.
What Is The Best Detox Drink For Weed?
So that leads to the next big question: what are the best detox drinks for THC?
The answer is all of them. All of them that are good enough to get rid of any drug metabolites will get rid of THC metabolites. As you’ve now seen, all a detox drink does is to flush out your system so you are clean for a few hours.
The detox drink isn’t picky. It can’t differentiate between different types of metabolites. So nothing can really target THC and flush out toxins in that sort of time scale.
If you see anything advertised as a brilliant detox drink for THC, it’s a marketing trick. You’re just looking for the cleansing drinks that have the best track record in getting people through drug tests.
Using Homemade Detox Drinks For Drug Tests
My next warning about using detox drinks for drug test is to steer away from home remedies.
You’ll read a lot online about homemade detox drinks for drug tests, making out that all you have to do is get hold of some cranberry juice, mix up some water and baking soda, drink lots of tea, and you’ll miraculously pass a drug test.
You will definitely flush out your organs and bladder with the rush of liquid, and you could stop drug toxins from being processed for a few hours as well.
However, you won’t get that burst of nutrients, minerals, and things like creatinine passing through as well. So your urine sample will fail because it will be unnatural, diluted.
The most popular method, the Certo method does have some basis in science. Because it’s fruit pectin, it’s high in fiber Fiber create bile, and cannabis metabolites attach to bile. So it will draw more toxins out through the bowel. However, it doesn’t solve the problem of getting rid of all the toxins, which means you’ll still have some in your urine, which will still be diluted and unbalanced.
The truth is that no homemade detox drinks for drug tests exist, nothing works, you need a complex formula and that means a professionally constructed product.
How To Use A Detox Drink For A Drug Test
Using a detox drink for a drug test is a pretty straightforward process on the day of your test, but it’s the lead up which is the bit that is often missed.
- You’ll need to do a natural detox for 48 hours, 72 hours or longer you can, and especially if you have high toxin levels in your body. If you’re smoking weed every day, or every other day, then you will have high toxin levels in your body, even if you haven’t done it for a few days.
- Alongside this detoxing time, you will have to naturally detox as well. Stop taking drugs, keep your body free of toxins like caffeine and alcohol, eat protein and fiber-rich foods, cut out fat, sugar and refined carbohydrates. On top of that, you need to run and exercise each day, sweat, work your body as this draws out metabolites as well. Doing all this as a “natural detox” will help it to eliminate more toxins.
- Hopefully, you have done steps one and two, and you pushed out a lot of the toxins in your body. This leaves fewer toxins for the detox drink to mask on the day of your test. About two hours before your test, drink the contents of the bottle plus any additional water instructed.
- Urinate three times in the hour after you’ve drunk the detox drink. Then get to the testing place as quickly as possible and submit your sample, because from the time you’ve drunk the detox drink you’ve only got 3-6 hours before drug metabolites could reappear in your urine.
So Do Marijuana Detox Drinks Work?
So the key question is: do detox drinks work? The answer to that question for me has always been yes, as long as you can do the natural detox.
Now look, you don’t have to do that for every occasion. If you did a couple of lines of cocaine two days ago, and that’s the first time you have done drugs for a month, then you won’t need to do a detox. Just do the detox drink as instructed, and you’ll be fine because you’ll have only small amounts of toxins in your body still.
But for me, chronic weed smokers especially are in danger for weeks after their last joint, because of the way that cannabis metabolites hang around in the body.
I’ve tested all of the following four brands of detox drink myself. I bought them, did a 48-hour detox before each one, followed the instructions, and then one hour after I last urinated I took a home drug test. All of them work.
More than that, I’ve used Rescue Cleanse to pass a real pre-employment drug test eight months ago. One of my best friends also used Mega Clean about a year ago, and he passed as well.
So the reviews of these detox drinks for drug tests are based on my own real-world evidence, plus feedback from people I know on Facebook and other social media.
Best Detox Drinks For THC + Other Drug Toxins
So in terms of these being best detox drinks for THC or any drug toxins, they are in no real particular order. Anyone of these will be good enough to pass a drug test, particularly if you do a 48 hour detox.
This detox drink has been around for a lot of years and has a great track record. A frequently updated formula, and very reliable.
Instructions are straightforward, and you don’t need additional water. So it’s a quality detox drink that won’t let you down. Especially if you do a 48-hour detox, it will cope with any level of toxin exposure.
It’s reasonably priced, costing around $55. Clear Choice has a great track record for making good drug test avoidance products, and Rescue Cleanse is one of them.
Clear Choice also makes Sub Solution, the top-selling brand of synthetic urine. I would always have fake urine as my plan B at least.
In fact, as the drug test you are facing will probably be unsupervised, I’ll tell you that absolutely the best way to pass a drug test is by submitting a fake sample. So if you’ve got the guts to do it, yet yourself some Sub Solution rather than use a detox drink. However, if you haven’t got the confidence, or it’s a supervised drug test, then a detox drink is the best strategy.
Ultra Eliminex is a more recent addition to the powerful detox drinks group. It’s made by Herbal Clean, who also make Qcarbo32. This is a less powerful formula that hasn’t got a great reputation nowadays. But Ultra Eliminex is a far more potent formula than Qcarbo32, which is updated for modern drug testing.
You won’t need additional water when drinking this detox drink, and it’s a very powerful liquid that will cope with light toxin exposure even without a detox during the days leading up to your test.
But combined with a 48 hour detox, and preferably a 1-2 day course of Toxin Rid detoxification pills, Ultra Eliminex is going to be the most potent detox drink you will buy. It is, however, the most expensive, costing around $80.
In fact, if you got the money and time I would always recommend at least a one day course of Toxin Rid to help that natural detox push out more toxins.
Detoxify Mega Clean
On its own Mega Clean isn’t particularly potent detox drink. The light toxin exposure, yes it will definitely work, especially if you can do a 48-hour detox.
But for the regular weed smoker, it’s not one of the best detox drinks for THC because it isn’t strong enough to flush out all the metabolites and keep them out for any length of time.
However, if you buy Mega Clean from TestClear, the people who make Toxin Rid detox pills, then you get six of these powerful pre-rid pills bundled in free. That means that 24 hours of your 48-hour detox will be far more efficient than naturally, leaving far fewer toxins to mask on the day.
So on its own Mega Clean is an okay option if you have light toxin exposure, and it’s better than nothing if you are facing a drug test right now because you can grab it at Walmart. But the best place to buy it is from TestClear because when bundled up with the pre-rid pills it becomes incredibly potent.
Quick Clear Detox
Last on the list is Quick Clear Detox which is a little-known detox drink from the manufacturer of Quick Fix urine (Spectrum Labs), the second most popular brand of fake pee out there.
It’s far cheaper than the other brands I’m talking about here. It only costs $30, which definitely puts it in the budget bracket. It’s also only 20 fluid ounces, whereas the other three on my list are 32 fluid ounces, giving you a far bigger hit of potent liquid.
So I was very suspicious when I tried it. However, that’s not the whole story with this cheap detox drink.
You drink the 20 fluid ounces, and while you drink it you consume the eight detoxification pills that are included. You then wait 30 minutes and drink 20 fluid ounces more water.
The net result of all this is that you are flushing out a lot of toxins, but still maintaining the balance in your urine. Now it’s not as powerful as the other drinks, but it did pass me a home drug test kit.
So I’m putting Quick Clear Detox in fourth place here, but if you’re on a budget, if you have a small body size, or you only have very light toxin exposure levels, then this will be plenty good enough to be classed as one of the best detox drinks for a drug test.
